Custom Shaker Vent Hood Integration

The Challenge

The original kitchen design featured high-quality white shaker cabinetry and a contemporary herringbone backsplash, yet the standard under-cabinet stainless steel vent hood felt visually undersized. It failed to capitalize on the room's vertical volume and lacked the architectural character necessary to serve as a true centerpiece for the home's culinary hub.

The Solution

To elevate the space, we executed a strategic renovation of the cooking alcove. We replaced the existing hood vent to match the kitchen space better, opting for a custom-built solution that bridges the gap between modern functionality and transitional warmth. This bespoke hood vent was built by our sister company, TX Cabinet Pros, ensuring an exact match to the existing cabinetry's profile and paint finish.

The Craftsmanship

The new installation features a floor-to-ceiling chimney breast with vertical shaker paneling that emphasizes the height of the ceilings. To introduce texture and a natural element to the monochromatic palette, we integrated a thick, reclaimed-style wood apron at the base of the hood. This detail complements the gray quartz countertops and matte black hardware, transforming a utilitarian appliance into a sophisticated architectural focal point. The final result is a seamless integration that feels original to the home while providing a dramatic aesthetic upgrade.
