Restored Mahogany Grand Entrance with Leaded Glass

A meticulous restoration of a grand mahogany entry door featuring leaded glass sidelights and an arched transom. Our team revitalized the natural luster of the wood to anchor this traditional estate facade.

The Restoration Challenge

Over time, even the most majestic architectural elements succumb to the elements. This project involved a grand traditional entryway that had lost its depth and character due to years of weathering. The goal was to reclaim the original elegance of the solid wood core without compromising the integrity of the surrounding leaded glass and cream-toned masonry.

The Artisanal Process

To achieve a showroom-quality result, our craftsmen stripped the door down to bare wood and restored the finish using a multi-step staining process. By removing the aged layers of varnish, we were able to reveal the intricate grain patterns and natural warmth of the timber. This careful preparation ensured that the new high-performance topcoat would provide both visual depth and long-lasting protection against UV rays and moisture.

Architectural Details

The restored door serves as the focal point of a sophisticated entry system. It is framed by custom leaded glass sidelights and a magnificent arched transom that mirrors the stonework above. The deep, reddish-brown tones of the mahogany provide a striking contrast against the off-white millwork, while the polished brass hardware and kickplate offer a classic finish. The result is a welcoming, high-end threshold that honors the home’s traditional architectural roots while ensuring durability for years to come.
